Exercise to Lose Stomach Fat Part 1 - Misconceptions

Stomach fat is one of the most popular topics in weight loss, and it's even more popular during the summer - who wouldn't want to show off their six pack or a nice flat tummy on the beach! As such I thought it is a good time to write an article on the best exercise to lose stomach fat. But I feel it is important to address the misconceptions that are out there about belly fat. There are plenty of those misconceptions, created by companies promoting various weight loss products, and eagerly accepted by people who are looking for a short cut to their weight loss. But let's address the two most common misconceptions.

There Is No Stomach Fat

Wish I could see the shock on your face, but it's true. There is no such thing, it's a myth, it doesn't exist. What does exist is fat that is stored around the stomach area, of course that fat is no different from the one stored on your arms, legs or any where else on the body. Now that you know this fact you might already see what the second misconception will be. Of course, it's the ever popular notion that there is a way to get rid of just the belly fat.

You Can't Target fat Loss

Since there is no difference between fat no matter where on your body it's stored, it is impossible to target a specific region and just lose fat there. This is an especially amusing misconception when you take into consideration the myriad of products and programs that will supposedly get rid of belly fat. Unfortunately that's just not true, there are no exercise or products that will do that. For example crunches are supposedly a great exercise to lose stomach fat. Obviously crunches work the abdominal muscles and a good exercise for getting a sculpted tummy. But there is no reason to believe that burning 500 calories by doing crunches will have a better (or even different) result than burning the same amount of calories by doing other exercise.

So, how does one lose the fat around the stomach area? That will be in the part 2! But the basic idea is that you'll burn all fat, not just that around your belly. I recommend you check out this tips to lose some weight and also this post that explains the best way to lose pounds. And be sure to check out part 2 of this article to learn the next exercise to lose stomach fat (or rather fat around stomach area).
